Growing up on a lake you are able to get away from reality without getting on a plane. A place to run away and still be home.
My mom and step dad got married when I was 12 years old and we moved to Brighton, Colorado (30 minutes east of Denver). I’ve seen some of the most beautiful sunsets and some of the coolest rain storms.
This rain storm was over the summer during a pool party! One huge crack of thunder and it started pouring; the sun still shinning. I always wanted to try wake boarding as a kid because I snowboarded and it looked easy but I didn’t have much of a chance to try it until of course I moved into a house on a lake! Mind blown; that summer I tried wake boarding and it was extremely hard for me to get up the first few times, drank a lot of water. But once I got up, oh man it was so fun just cruising on top of the water and everyone cheering for you on the boat (unfortunately I don’t have a picture of it). Here is one though from this last summer with my boyfriend when we went wake surfing.
Growing up on a lake there is a good chance that means rope swing 🙂 well yes our house had a rope swing and the best time to go was when the sun was setting because the water was a nice warm temperature from the sun.
This was one of my most favorite things to do during the summer because it felt like a movie! Swinging into the sunset and once the swing is at the highest point you let go and drop into the warm water.
Although the summer is the best time for lake activities the winter is also fun because it brings a frozen lake which can either be very sketchy because it could be very thin, or it could be thick and you can go skate around. I never risked skating out because I was to scared but I did walk out onto it a few times.
